A High Knifehand Twist Block (also called Knifehand High Twist Block, Twist Block, Twisting Block, or hansonnal olgul biureo makgi) is like an Outward Knifehand Block that:
- blocks at face-height (rather than shoulder height, as is normal for an Outward Block,
- is performed with the arm that is opposite the leading foot, and
- involves a twist at the waist at the end of the block, in the direction of the block in order to provide additional power to the block.
The idea of a Twist Block is that you are blocking for your face while simultaneously setting up the opportunity to grab your opponent's forearm for a counterattack.
